How to walk it

Start at Aughrim village car park. Waymarked posts lead south-east out of the village, uphill through forestry for about 2 km. The path contours along the hillside before descending on a farm track. Return to Aughrim via quiet lanes.

Local tips

  • Boots recommended — one or two muddy sections
  • Carry water — no stream crossings on the high section
  • Phone signal patchy; download the GPX before you leave
  • Allow longer in poor visibility — open sections not always obvious
