Route & directions

How to walk it

Start at the lakeside car park in Blessington, behind the town centre. The greenway is paved and signposted throughout. The route runs along the eastern shore of the Blessington Lakes for 6.5 km, ending at Russborough House. Russborough has an admission charge for the house tour but the parkland gardens are free. Allow 1.5 hours one-way; bus #65 returns to Blessington several times a day. Total day with Russborough visit: 4–5 hours.

Local tips

  • Plan transport home — the 65 bus runs back to Blessington every couple of hours
  • Buggy- and wheelchair-friendly throughout — the only flat-surfaced walk in this area
  • Russborough House cafés are good post-walk — bookings advised at weekends
