Stage 7 route notes
How the day unfolds
- Climb steadily out of Roundwood towards the JB Malone monument — erected to the man who, in the 1960s, mapped the whole Way.
- Across the shoulder of Djouce Mountain. Optional summit detour adds 1 km and 150 m of climb — worth it on a clear day.
- First views of Dublin Bay and the city. Great Sugar Loaf dominates the north-east skyline.
- Descend into the Glencree valley past Maulin, through forestry.
- Finish at Knockree Youth Hostel — walker's hostel in a restored farmhouse. Dinner at Johnnie Fox's in Glencullen (15 min taxi) or self-catering.
