Privacy & Cookie Policy
Short version: we don't sell your data, we use one standard analytics cookie, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.
Who we are
WalkWicklow.ie is operated by Nicky Murphy, trading as part of the Irish Walks network, Strawhall Industrial Estate, Cannery Road, Carlow, R93 C6X2, Ireland. VAT 3239008EH. Company Reg 538872. Contact: nicky@murphyfurniture.ie.
What information we collect
- Contact form submissions. Your name, email, phone number (if you give it) and message. Used only to reply to your enquiry.
- GPX / newsletter sign-ups. Email address, and name if supplied. Used to send the GPX file you asked for and occasional emails about new Wicklow walks.
- Accommodation / itinerary booking enquiries. Name, email, dates, group size, message. Forwarded directly to the partner property or used to build your custom itinerary.
- Analytics cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which walks are most read. This is privacy-friendly analytics — it does not track individual users across sites and does not use third-party cookies.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't share your contact details with advertisers. We don't profile you for retargeting. We don't run Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or any other cross-site tracking.
How long we keep it
Contact-form submissions are held for two years then deleted. Newsletter subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe. Audio tour purchase records, where they exist, are held for the period required by Irish Revenue (six years after the end of the tax year).
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to ask us to stop using it. Email nicky@murphyfurniture.ie with the subject "GDPR request" and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Cookies
We use two cookies:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — an anonymous visit counter. Does not identify you. No cross-site tracking.
- cookie-consent — a single cookie that remembers whether you've accepted or declined the cookie banner, so we don't show it again.
If you decline cookies, only the cookie-consent cookie is set.
Third-party services we link to
Accommodation "Book" buttons take you to the partner's own website (for example madelinesaccommodation.ie). Event "Buy Tickets" buttons take you to Eventbrite or the event organiser's own site. Once you click through, the partner's own privacy policy applies.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we add new features (for example, if we add a payment system for audio tours). The "last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be announced at the top of this page.
