The Sugar Loaves Walk links the Great Sugar Loaf and Little Sugar Loaf near Kilmacanogue — a moderate-to-strenuous 10–12 km upland route taking in both distinctive quartzite peaks visible across east Wicklow. The cone-shaped Great Sugar Loaf is formed from ancient quartzite rock hundreds of millions of years old. Allow 4–5 hours.

How to walk it
Start at the Great Sugar Loaf car park near Kilmacanogue. The combined Great & Little Sugar Loaf Walk is approx. 10–12 km — a moderate-to-strenuous upland route linking both Sugar Loaf summits. Allow 4–5 hours. Gravel paths, rocky mountain sections and uneven upland ground.

- Waterproof footwear essential
- Care on steep rocky sections — especially Great Sugar Loaf summit
- Strong winds on exposed ground
- Carry sufficient water — no facilities en route
- Best done on a clear day for the views
