Poulanass is a short 1.6 km looped trail in Glendalough that climbs beside the Poulanass Waterfall through woodland paths above the Upper Lake. Stepped and uneven sections — short but steady climb. Allow 40–50 minutes. A manageable shorter Glendalough option for visitors not tackling the Spinc.

How to walk it

Start near the Upper Lake car park at Glendalough. The Poulanass Walk is approx. 1.6 km — a short moderate walk with stepped and uneven sections beside the waterfall. The route climbs above Poulanass Waterfall before descending through woodland back towards the Upper Lake area. Allow 40–50 minutes. Forest tracks, stone paths, timber steps and uneven ground — slippery after rain.

  • Footwear with good grip recommended
  • Take care on steps and rocks near the waterfall
  • Busy at weekends and during school holidays
  • Watch for jays and robins in the woodland
  • Combine with the Miners' Road for an extended Glendalough walk
